Research, writing and report preparation The preparation of properly researched, well structured, clear and concise written material is a prerequisite for achieving a desired impact with a target audience. The range of material commercial organisations may need to prepare at different times includes the following:
Research projects undertaken to prepare such material need to tap into all available relevant data sources. The online environment offers access to a smorgasbord of information which can be of tremendous assistance in this regard. A lot of time can be wasted, however, without good knowledge of how to quickly sort the relevant from the irrelevant and where to go to find the wheat among the chaff. For many reasons, including limitations on in-house resources occasioned by the emphasis on corporate downsizing in recent years, many organisations do not have adequate resources with which to undertake such projects. In other cases, there may be a lack of expertise or little interest in doing so. Wingarra BMI is ideally placed to act as an ad hoc corporate resource to assist clients both research and prepare commercial documents and other written material from the ground up, and to improve such material which is either substantially complete or in the process of being researched and drafted. We have undertaken research and prepared detailed reports, submissions and a wide range of other written material for clients involved in a broad range of commercial projects. In the course of these, we have also edited and proofed countless documents in order to improve their effectiveness and impact. We have also undertaken a number of major commercial research and writing projects on our own account, the results of some of which have been published internationally. Grant applications Many people find the process of applying for assistance under the multitude of grants and assistance programs offered by the various levels of government both bewildering and intimidating. Others simply don't have the time to devote to the research, negotiations, application preparation and process management required to see such applications through to successful conclusion. Many people and organisations are not even aware of schemes under which they may qualify for assistance packages. Most governments operate a broad range of grants programs to assist businesses, local authorities, educational institutions and community groups. Many of these organisations do not access funding which may be available to assist with their general operations or specific projects. Many government grant and other assistance programs are competitive. That is, applications in any particular round are assessed not only against the relevant merit criteria, but also against all other applications. While applicants can therefore never be certain of success, chances are maximised when applications are prepared with a comprehensive understanding of scheme guidelines, merit criteria and assessment procedures and experienced attention to necessary research and communication processes.
